Dodge County Will See Racing In 2012wissota
Kasson, MN–Stock car racing will return to the historic Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN. A new promoting body that consists of Brian and Mike Madsen of BM Promotions, Inc. in Blooming Prairie, MN have signed on to promote weekly racing at the speedway. They will take over the reigns from Stan and Sandy Gilbertson who operated the facility last year.
Racing will get underway on Sunday night May 6th at 5:00pm with DCS Hornets, DCS Pure Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks, USRA B-Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Mods and UMSS Traditional non-wing sprint cars on the bill.
The UMSS Traditional Sprint Cars and IMCA type Stock Cars will alternate Sunday night appearances. A-Mods will be the headliners for the traditional USMTS dates on Memorial Day weekend (May 27) and on Labor Day weekend (September 2). Modifieds will also run a special for the Wednesday night Dodge County Fair grandstand show. Weekly racing will take place each Sunday until September 2.
The new promoters are trying to keep things affordable to fans this year. Adult tickets will be $10 for weekly points racing and a family pack will be introduced. That will include four tickets (two adults and two children) for $25, as well as a coupon for a hot dog and a soda for each person.
The Madsen’s are also going to try and preserve and promote the history of the speedway. On May 20 they are planning a “Legends” night to honor those that have raced at the speedway from the early days to the 1980’s. The Northern Vintage racers will be on hand as well as famous drivers that made Dodge County Speedway in the past.
The UMSS winged and UMSS Traditional non-wing sprints as well as the Northern Vintage Racers along with additional classes will close the 2012 season out on Saturday night Sept 28th.
Weekly classes at Dodge County Speedway will be DCS Hornets, DCS Pure Stocks, Wissota Street Stocks, USRA B-Mods, Wissota Midwest Mods with the UMSS Traditional non-wing sprint cars and IMCA type Stock Cars alternating every other Sunday night.
