Searing stomps field for Granite City Motor Park win

The Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series powered by Momentum Truck Group, Freightliner, Western Star wrapped up its opening three-night weekend at the Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, MN on Sunday night, seeing Huron, South Dakota’s Cole Searing win the 40-lap feature by leading all 40 laps, lapping up to the 8th place car and amassing a whopping 6.171 second advantage when the double checkers flew.

A tough field of 19 WISSOTA Late Model competitors wrapped up their weekend in Sauk Rapids, MN and saw Kevin Eder start the night by setting fast time with a lap of 14.298 seconds around the tight oval, while Cole Searing and Jordan Tollakson topped the two qualifying heat races early in the night’s program.

Jeff Provinzino and Cole Searing earned the front row for the night’s $3,000 to win, 40-lap feature event with Searing getting the upper hand on the initial start and leading the field into turn number one and lead the opening lap.

Searing ran out front over the first five laps with Provinzino, Shane Sabraski, Jordan Tollakson and Zach Johnson inside the top five early.

As the leader raced alone out front, the best battle on the track was for fourth between Tollakson, Josh Zimpel and Dave Mass as those three swapped positions lap after lap just behind the leaders.

Searing lead comfortably at the halfway point, while second was under protest, as Sabraski rolled up on Provinzino and battled for the runner up spot for several laps until he was able to blast by and set his sights on Searing, who continued to negotiate lapped traffic out front.

The remainder of the race ran non-stop with great action throughout the field, while Searing was rolling away from the field, Sabraski opened up a lead on the late-race battle for third, which Mass was able assume, just ahead of Provinzino and Zimpel.

Searing rolled uncontested to his 8th career series victory with ease. Following the #10 to the finish line were Sabraski, Mass, Zimpel, who stole fourth from Provinzino at the line.

Bobie Arnes won the WISSOTA Hornet main. Shane Sabraski won the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, Blake Adams won the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature as well to round out the night.
