Grand Rapids Speedway to host Sept. 1 Challenge Series event

ST. CLOUD, MN - In an update to the series schedule, Grand Rapids Speedway has agreed to host a Shaw Trucking WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series Event as part of its long-standing Labor Day Weekend special, “The WISSOTA Classic.”

“We have been working with Grand Rapids Speedway each year hoping to be a part of this great event,” said series director Craig Sullivan. “The event ties in perfectly for Challenge Series drivers, with the following two nights at Hibbing Raceway.”

The event will kick off the final points weekend for the Shaw Trucking Challenge Series for WISSOTA Late Models.

The event date of September 1 was originally scheduled at St. Croix Speedway. St. Croix was recently put up for sale, and it is not clear yet as to who the new owners will be. Challenge Series officials and the promoters of St. Croix Speedway have decided that it is in the best interest of all parties to revisit the idea of hosting a race once the new management team is put in place.

Sullivan commented, “We wish them luck moving forward and hope to work with the new owners in 2018.”

The revised schedule can be found at wissotachallengeseries.com.
