WISSOTA and AFCO Continue the Race of Champions Partnership

Sauk Rapids, MN (May 21, 2018) – Find the your nearest AFCO Race of Champions event by visiting wissota.org.

In 2017, the AFCO Race of Champions had 141 qualifiers from 40 different member tracks. These races attract traveling drivers trying to gain bragging rights for the year by having a chance to win the AFCO Race of Champions at the WISSOTA 100. At the 2017 AFCO Race of Champions, 90 drivers took part in the races at the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100, and the champions were as follows; Late Models, Zach Johnson, Kensington, MN, Modifieds, Andy Davey, Hibbing, MN, Super Stocks, Dave Mass, East Bethel, MN, Midwest Modifieds, Brock Gronwold, Fergus Falls, MN, Street Stocks, Tim Johnson, Brainerd, MN, Mod Fours, Mitchell Hribar, Zimmerman, MN.

The highest finishing driver, who has not already qualified for the AFCO Race of Champions, will receive the ability to race in the 2018 AFCO Race of Champions event at the WISSOTA 100 in their division. If a qualifying driver cannot attend the WISSOTA 100, the 2018 track champion of a qualifying member track may start the race in place of the other qualifier. There are also a number of provisional spots that may be filled at any time if the division as fewer than 19 cars. These include past winners, past champions, tour champions (if applicable), etc.

"The AFCO Race of Champions events are unique events each season for the tracks, drivers, and fans at WISSOTA member tracks,” said Carson Gramm, WISSOTA Associate Executive Director. “The races at the WISSOTA 100 are interesting to watch play out because of the points strategies that you see. There are also many other benefits that the drivers can receive from running their race at the WISSOTA 100, including monetary benefits. AFCO and our staff at WISSOTA have a great program that is simply beneficial to everyone at the tracks, all the participating drivers, and of course the fan experience,” continued Carson Gramm.
