WISSOTA Officials Continue to Evaluate Safety

Sauk Rapids, MN (May 30, 2018) – WISSOTA Auto Racing officials discuss safety of race cars, and the options currently available to WISSOTA drivers. As an association of member tracks, WISSOTA values the input of its many competitors in all divisions, suppliers, and promoters.

We encourage all drivers to take time to read the rule book and understand that the safety measures regarding drive shaft hoops, floor pans, driver compartment walling, etc. are minimum specifications. We understand the safety issues of racing. If you are concerned with the safety of your car and race program, you have a number of options to make your car safer. These options include, but are not limited to, adding more drive shaft hoops, adding scatter shields, adding thicker steel to the floor pans and driver compartments, researching acceptable pinion angle to avoid unnecessary stress on moving parts, etc.

Increased safety recommendations are continually being considered by WISSOTA officials, promoters, and our tech committee for review and vote by member promoters at the annual meeting. The goal of competitive, safe racing remains at the forefront of the WISSOTA brand.

If you would like to discuss ways you can make your car and person safer please contact your local tech officials or Bill Engelstad, WISSOTA Auto Racing Tech Director.
