WISSOTA Working for the Environment

St Augusta, MN (February 25, 2019) – WISSOTA Auto Racing is working to become better stewards of the environment through less waste and more recycling efforts.

In an effort to reduce waste, WISSOTA rulebooks will only be sent to you upon request for the 2019 season. “Many drivers and team owners are using the online version of the rulebook with the easy access on smart phones and computers, so we found this to be a great way to help reduce waste in the environment,” stated Bill Engelstad, Tech Director for WISSOTA Auto Racing. “We will evaluate the impact this has on our drivers and teams throughout the season, as we still require all drivers to know and conform to the rules and procedures,” continued Bill.

The required contingency stickers are also only being sent to drivers as they are requested. According to WISSOTA officials, more and more drivers are using wraps and incorporating them into the wrap from the online download found in the drivers’ page of the WISSOTA website. It is still required for all drivers to have all stickers on unless otherwise noted.

“We are continuing to look at ways to reduce waste in the environment, and these two initiatives are a great starting point,” stated Carson Gramm, WISSOTA Executive Director. “All of these things come at great cost, and in our effort to reduce cost to drivers this is one place we can try to start. We also have great recycling partners in Fergus Falls that have continued to support the recycling effort at the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100,” continued Carson.

When you attend the 2019 Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 you will see numerous recycling bins and bags. Proceeds from this recycling effort go back into the community of Fergus Falls which helps to ensure the survival of another great racing community.

Continue to look for new WISSOTA recycling initiatives in the coming months as WISSOTA officials continue to streamline processes for drivers and tracks.

WISSOTA Auto Racing exists to enhance safe and successful dirt track racing through unified, cost effective rules and procedures enacted in a democratic environment. To find a WISSOTA Auto Racing member track near you visit wissota.org.
