Tech Observations From the First Few Weeks

After the first few weeks of the 2019 WISSOTA racing season these are some of the observations that tech staffs have reported.

First of all, Drivers MUST read the front part of the WISSOTA 2019 rule book along with your class rules. On page 17 of the 2019 WISSOTA rule book, section 3 is “Minimum Specifications” to be used in all classes.

Some of the safety things that have been found. These items are for multiple WISSOTA classes.

  • All fuel cells must have fuel cell straps.
  • Battery terminals must be covered with plastic or rubber.
  • Car number identification must be present on last piece of exhaust.
  • No air bleeder valves of any kind are permitted on any wheels.
  • Know the seat belt rules as many manufacturers have changed their recommendations. Page 18 rule 3.3.8
  • You must display the type of engine option you are using [example Spec, concept, crate] on the left front window post, or side of hood or hood scope. In classes that have multiple engine options.
  • Must have ALL stickers and patches.

WISSOTA Late Models.

  • Max. deck height 39".
  • Max. deck width 78" in middle of car tapering in to 72" at back of car.
  • Max. of 1 1/2" roof rake front to back.
  • Right side of car cannot be concaved.
  • Max. body width near ground at bottom of panels 82".

WISSOTA Modifieds

  • Max. deck height 38".
  • Max deck width from the front of deck to the back of deck 66".
  • Max. body width at bottom of panels near ground 78".

WISSOTA Super Stocks

  • Max. deck height 37"
  • Max. roof rake front to back 1 1/2"
  • Max. deck width 76" tapering in to 72" at back of car.
  • Understand leg saver guard or drive shaft rule. Page 54 rule 18 A-B. in 2019 rule book.

WISSOTA Midwest Modified

  • Max. deck height 38".
  • Max. deck width from the front of deck to the back of deck 66".
  • Max. body width at bottom of panels near ground 78".
  • No spoiler supports with the 2" spoiler, may use sail panel/roof post for spoiler supports.

WISSOTA Street stocks

  • Must use stock roof rake.
  • Stock exhaust manifolds only. No grinding or altering inside or outside.

WISSOTA Mod-4

  • Max. roof rake. 2 " for every 24" of roof length front to back.
  • Max deck width 64"
  • Max. deck height 38".
  • Can not machine/cut rotor off front hubs.

WISSOTA Pure Stocks

  • Mandatory safety vent bar from top door bar to A pillar bar on left side of car.
  • Must have stock trunk for type of car being used.
  • Entire trunk floor must be covered with steel
  • Rear end gears must come stock for the year and make of car being used. G-bodied cars 241, 256, 273 gears.
  • No cock pits.

WISSOTA Hornets

  • Mandatory safety vent bar from top door bar to A pillar bar on left side of car.
  • Racing springs not allowed.
