KOCH CAPTURES FIRST WISSOTA SUPER STOCK NATIONAL TITLE AFTER DOMINATING SEASON

Dexton Koch is finally a WISSOTA National Champion!

He has been in the thick of the WISSOTA Super Stock National Championship fight in each of the last four years and was finally able break through this season after racing to a career high 28 victories and topping multi-time national champion Shane Sabraski in the national point standings by 41 points to win his first ever national championship.

Koch’s road to the national title has been a long one, filled with many successes including being the national championship runner up in each of the last two seasons. Both 2022 and 2023 saw Koch win 27 and 21 feature races respectively and finish second to Sabraski in the national championship hunt. Dexton was also in the mix in 2021, winning nine times and finishing fourth in the national point standings, so to be able to reach the top of the mountain in 2024, Dexton described it as ‘dream season filled with lots of ice cream and memories made!’

Koch, who is 28-year-old is a Diesel Technician by trade started in the Street Stock division twelve years ago and after one year in that class, moved into the Super Stock division, where he has been a mainstay and a consistent threat to win any time he unloads his #78K car.

Among Koch’s 28 victories, he picked up wins at twelve tracks, including the Cedar Lake Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway, Granite City Motor Park, Princeton Speedway, KRA Speedway, Red Cedar Speedway, Bemidji Speedway, Fiesta City Speedway, Gondik Law Speedway, Rice Lake Speedway, Viking Speedway and I-94 emr Speedway. Along with a career-high 28 wins, he raced inside the top ten in 67 of the 78 events he entered and finished inside the top five a very impressive 61 times throughout the season. Dexton’s consistent season landed him three track championships for his efforts, winning track titles at Princeton, Ogilvie and Granite City and winning the Minnesota State Championship along the way as well.

Of the 28 victories Dexton raced to this season, he mentioned several that were special or memorable, including winning the WISSOTA 100, winning the Fastlane Super Stock Series and winning two races on the tour, one at Red Cedar and one at Rice Lake, plus winning the Granite City Open, the Topless Nationals, winning his 100 th career feature and becoming the first driver to ever sweep the FYE Mod Nationals weekend, winning all three races at Princeton and Ogilvie over Memorial Day weekend. Dexton also said ‘traveling on the Fastlane Super Stock Series along with winning the series after a few rough nights was one of the memories that sticks out
to him as most memorable during the season as well.’

Koch is sponsored by Collins Bros. Towing of St. Cloud, Minnesota Truck Headquarters, Espana Silk, Rollie’s Rednecks & Longnecks, Kim’s Kleaning Services, Fast Track Automotive, Racer’s X Performance Parts, GDU Racing Shocks, Adams Automotive Racing Engines, Stenberg Enterprises, Cumberland Oils & Fuels, Connection Transport & Accounting, Buzz Signs & Graphics and Affordable Chassis and he is also supported by his family and crew, which consists of his dad Pat, mom Kim, sister Brittany, wife Amanda, along with Zach, Troy, Gabe, Jon, Tina, Ella and Val.

The Super Stock division was first sanctioned by WISSOTA in 1990 and Koch becomes the 19 th racer to win the Super Stock National Championship since then.

Congrats to Dexton and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.

Promoters who join the organization become, in essence, part owners of the racing organization and are expected to contribute to its overall success. Each November, the WISSOTA annual meeting is held; the member promoters gather annually in this forum to discuss the future of the organization. Member promoters are given the opportunity to vote on all organizational policies and procedures as well as rules for competition in the various racing divisions. WISSOTA’s member promoters and racing associations have spent approximately 30 years of hard work at the annual meetings crafting unique rules for each of the divisions, which are known as WISSOTA Late Models, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Mod Fours, WISSOTA Pure Stocks and WISSOTA Hornets.
