WISSOTA Partners with Speedway Motors for Street Stock Frame

WISSOTA is excited to announce a partnership with Speedway Motors to approve part number 91678881-COMP that will come with stamped front upper control arm mounts and stamped rear spring/shock mount as a great alternative for the over 40-year-old OEM frames that are used, rusty and hard to find. These all-new metal frame sections feature approved modifications already made for you, saving fabrication time.

  • WISSOTA approved all new GM Metric frame sections available as front, rear, or complete front/rear frame kit with race-ready modifications already made to frames.
  • Identical dimensional specs to 78-88 GM Metric frame mounting points with .118-inch-thick mild steel front frame rail sections, .120-inch-thick mild steel rear frame rail sections and .095-inch thick 2x4 midframe rails (included with front frame and complete frame kits only).
  • Front upper control arm mounts and rear spring/shock mounts included, must be finish welded. Front and rear frames feature dimple stops and alignment holes for assembly and welding ease.

From Speedway Motors:
With the last production GM Metric chassis frame hitting the road in 1988, it is no doubt getting tougher to find a suitable chassis for a competitive WISSOTA Street Stock race car build. Rust, accident damage, and more claim these GM Metric chassis frames every day. It is available as a weld together front frame stub (with control arm/shock mounts and midframe rails included), weld together rear frame stub (with spring/shock mounts included), or complete weld together frame kit (front stub, rear stub, midframe rails, and shock mounts), perfect for Street Stock chassis builders.

Designed in-house at Speedway Motors, these new mild steel frame stubs solve the growing problem of trying to source good used GM Metric chassis frames for your Street Stock cars. These are designed around factory frame dimensions, yet most of the modifications and updates you would have to make to a stock frame are already expertly handled and approved by WISSOTA. This includes shortened front and rear frame horns, front crossmember “duckbill” removed for additional steering linkage clearance, and much more! Final assembly and welding are all that is required for chassis builders and the alignment holes and dimple stops make welding everything together quick and easy. Start your next Street Stock chassis build with a Speedway Motors frame or use the front or rear stubs to update your current cars and ditch that twisted, rusty mess of a frame you’re using now.

Front and rear frame fitment data:

  • Front frame section features .118-inch wall thickness
  • Rear frame section features .120-inch wall thickness
  • Front upper control arm clamshell mounts have alignment holes and require welding
  • Rear lower control arm mounts are stitch-welded, requiring full welding for installation
  • Rear spring cup/upper shock mount brackets come pre-welded together (not installed)
  • Midframe rails (included with front frame and complete frame) feature .095-inch 2x4 boxed construction

Benefits for the chassis builder:

  • Eliminates the need to search for & stockpile core frames
  • Eliminates the need to disassemble, weld & repair core frames
  • No more trips to-and-from the sandblast shop
  • Repeatable, easy assembly resulting in cost savings

Benefits for the racer:

  • Reduced lead time from your chassis builder
  • Stronger, more consistent product with more performance
