Jenson joins elite company as WISSOTA Hornet National Champion

After finishing tenth in the final 2024 WISSOTA Hornet National Point Standings last October, Anthony Jenson of Milaca, Minnesota, set out to accomplish his goal of chasing and winning the national title this season, which he achieved due to his dedication and on-track success. Jenson came out of the gate red hot, winning his first three starts of the season in April, going on to win 5 of his first seven starts, setting the tone for a tremendous season, which he would go on to lead the point standings basically from start to finish, securing his first-ever national title.

Jenson, 31, won a total of 26 races in the 50 events he entered and finished inside the top ten on 48 occasions, with 45 top-five runs throughout the year. The national point battle between Jenson, Bobie Arnes, Brady Fosso, and Jeff Rohner was tight all season long, with Jenson edging Rohner by just 5 points and Fosso by only 12 when the final tallies were counted.

His solid season also earned him the Minnesota State Championship, as well as track titles at both the Princeton Speedway in Princeton, MN, and the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN, his regular haunts on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tony raced as often as he could this year and picked up wins at seven different tracks across WISSOTA country, including at the Ogilvie Raceway, Princeton Speedway, Granite City Motor Park, Viking Speedway, Fiesta City Speedway, Proctor Speedway, and Madison Speedway. The only track Tony raced at that he did not end up in victory lane over the course of the season was the Gondik Law Speedway, where he ran 3rd and 4th in his only two appearances of the season at the Superior, Wisconsin oval.

Of the 26 victories Jenson raced to this season, he mentioned several that were special or memorable, including winning the WISSOTA MPH Invitational at the Granite City Motor Park, winning 2 nights of Mod Nationals weekend at Ogilvie, winning 2 nights of the Piston Cup at Granite City, and winning the second night of the Madtown Showdown at Madison. Getting his first big win at Mod Wars at Ogilvie is something he will never forget, either.

Tony has been involved in racing his whole life, as his father-in-law, Dustin, has been a very accomplished racer throughout his career. Tony has raced for a total of two full and two half seasons, all of which have been in the Hornet division.

When asked what it meant to win the 2025 WISSOTA Hornet National Championship, he stated ‘Dream Big. Drive Hard. Win Clean. That’s how Champions are made!’

Tony’s #23 Hornet is sponsored by Rum River Automotive, Nelson Sanitation & Rental Inc., J&J Northwoods Construction, Geez Detailing, Precision Imports, Mark Anderson Images, Nelson Recycling, Digging Dirt Motorsports, Midwest Machinery, Jellyfish Graphics, Dirt Info. Podcast, Cool Cats Customs, Don & Ben Nelson, and his mom and dad. He is also supported by his family, which consists of his wife, Mikayla; daughter, Kennedy; father-in-law, Dustin; mother, Dendy; dad, Troy; and his other crew members, Riley Lambert and Jason Williams.

Congrats to Tony and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.

Promoters who join the organization become, in essence, part owners of the racing organization and are expected to contribute to its overall success. Each November, the WISSOTA annual meeting is held; the member promoters gather annually in this forum to discuss the future of the organization. Member promoters are given the opportunity to vote on all organizational policies and procedures as well as rules for competition in the various racing divisions. WISSOTA’s member promoters and racing associations have spent approximately 30 years of hard work at the annual meetings crafting unique rules for each of the divisions, which are known as WISSOTA Late Models, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Mod Fours, WISSOTA Pure Stocks and WISSOTA Hornets.
