Holtquist hauls in another WISSOTA Mod Four National Title

For the second time in his WISSOTA Mod Four career, St. Cloud, Minnesota’s Dustin Holtquist has been named the Mod Four National Champion! After winning the national title in 2022 and finishing second by just a mere one point in both of the last two seasons, he once again sits atop the mountain after picking up his second career national title for his season-long efforts.
Dustin is adamant that he was not going to chase points this season, but instead planned on just racing and having fun, Everything just fell into place at the end as he dedicates this championship to his grandma Schwandt, as she passed away halfway through the season, so Dustin says, ‘to win the natty title for her means everything!’

Dustin raced to 17 Mod Four victories throughout the 2025 season. In total, he entered 43 feature races, finishing the season with 17 wins and racing inside the top ten in an impressive 39 of the 43 events he entered, demonstrating the consistency of his season. He also picked up 36 top-five finishes in the 43 events he entered from April through October.

Dustin’s racing career started in the two-person cruisers at Fiesta City Speedway in Montevideo, MN. He raced in that division for several years, then bought a Super Stock and drove that for several years after. He also dabbled in the Cruiser class at the Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD, part-time before getting his feet wet in the WISSOTA Mod Four division, where he has competed at a very high level for the past 14 seasons. He also builds his own race cars, a hobby he began in 2020.

Dustin raced at nine different tracks across WISSOTA country. He was able to pick up those 17 wins at eight of those tracks across three states, including at Princeton, North Central, Granite City, Ogilvie, KRA, Hibbing, Black Hills, Gillette, and Sheridan. In fact, the only track he wasn’t able to pull off a win was the one appearance he made in Hibbing, where he ran second to last year’s National Champion Dean Larson. Of those 17 wins, Dustin remembers winning the Ron Johnson Memorial, the Half-Mile Nationals, the East-West Clash, Mod Wars, the Piston Cup, and the Fall Classic in Sheridan as wins that stand out to him. He also picked Fall Classic weekend as his most memorable moment of the year for several reasons. First, his weekend sweep officially locked up the national title, and having his dad along as his crew chief meant he could give him a hug to celebrate and say, 'We did it.' This is something he will cherish for years to come.

Dustin is sponsored by Collins Brothers Towing of St. Cloud, Double L Ranch, Pikes Grain Bin Repair, Ringdahl Architects, The Pump 2.0, Technicolor Screen Printing, Wollak Construction, Wagamon Bros. Performance Racing Engines, Dirt Slayer Chassis, Fox Shocks by Dan Ebert and Speedwerx. He is also supported by his family, which consists of his girlfriend Kaitlyn, daughter Ella, mom and dad Brenda and Bob, brother and sister-in-law Jeremy and Angie Johnson and his sister and brother son-a-law Shannen and Doug Marciniak as well as his other crew members, Kaitlyn, Ella, Bob, Brenda and the dog Marley.

Dustin wanted to thank his sponsors, family, friends, fans, and also send a shout-out to his car owners, Dallas and Sally, for continuing to believe in him and for giving him great equipment to drive. Also, a big thank you to his boss, James, for allowing him a place to work on and build his race cars and all the advice and support over the last ten years.

Congrats to Dustin and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.
