Sabraski super in securing record 12th WISSOTA National Championship
After winning the WISSOTA Late Model Rookie of the Year title a year ago, along with placing second in both the Late Model and Super Stock national points, plus coming home fourth in the Modified final points, Shane Sabraski and his West Metro Buick GMC-backed team set their sights on getting back to their traditional winning ways. They began searching for another WISSOTA National Championship, or two, during this recently completed 2025 season.
Sabraski, 47, from Rice, Minnesota, ended up with an 8-point margin over Curt Myers atop the final WISSOTA Super Stock national point standings after a hard-fought battle and was able to race to his 1,000th career feature win in a late September event at the Granite City Motor Park, becoming the first WISSOTA driver ever to reach that monumentous win total. Shane also ended up second in the final WISSOTA Modified national point standings, fourth in the final WISSOTA Late Model national points, and raced to a runner-up finish in the final Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series point standings as well.
Throughout Shane’s 164 feature races that he entered this season, he not only raced to victory lane 56 times across the three divisions that he competed in regularly, but he also picked up a whopping 144 top ten finishes and finished inside the top five in 126 of the events that he entered throughout the season. Of his incredible 56 victories, six came in the Late Models, 18 in the Modifieds, and 32 in the Super Stocks.
Shane’s #7A Race Cars are heavily supported by West Metro Buick GMC, and he is also supported by his wife Katie, his kids Mason and Braelyn, as well as his crew, which consists of Jimmy, Chris, Glenn, Troy, Tony, Travis, Trey, Paul, Grant, Mike and TJ.
Shane has been racing for a while, with his first several seasons spent in the Short Tracker and then WISSOTA Midwest Modified divisions, before he moved into the WISSOTA Modified class in 2006, then the Super Stock class in 2010, where he has been a driving force ever since and just completed his second season behind the wheel of his WISSOTA Late Model as well.

Notable Super Stock wins for Sabraski this season included winning the Labor Day Shootout at the Hibbing Speedway; the King of Dirt, the Scott Engfer Gopher State Showdown and the WISSOTA 100, both at the I-94 emr Speedway; the Clash at Casino at the Casino Speedway; the Dirt Track Nationals at the Thunder City Speedway; the Piston Cup at the Granite City Motor Park and the WISSOTA Classic at the Grand Rapids Speedway.
Showing his versatility throughout the season, Shane won races at fifteen different tracks during the 2025 campaign, including victories at Cedar Lake, I-94, Ogilvie, Granite City, Viking, Grand Rapids, KRA, Fiesta City, Madison, Thunder City, ABC, Proctor, Princeton, Hibbing and Casino, racking up victories in three states and Canada along the way.
When asked what it means to win his almost unimaginable 12th national championship, Shane said ‘I know some people think winning should get old to me or that I don’t want a national championship because I’ve had plenty, but I still enjoy winning in any class of car and each class has stand-out drivers that make it tough year after year. We’ve been fortunate that our Super Stock setup has been perfect, and no points championship ever comes easily. It takes a lot of work and time from me and my crew to be able to be on top at the end, and I’m grateful for all the help I have to keep all my cars going.’
Shane ends the 2025 season with a whopping 1007 career feature wins. After winning a total of 56 throughout the season, and although winning his 1000th feature was a special moment, his sights are set on winning his 1100th within the next several seasons.
Congrats to Shane and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.
The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.
In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.
