Adams answers the call and wins both WISSOTA Modified National Title and Rookie of the Year Award

When Blake Adams, the son of 5-time WISSOTA National Champion Kevin Adams, began his 2025 racing season, the team was set on chasing the WISSOTA Midwest Modified national championship, as well as getting Blake’s feet wet in the WISSOTA Modified class throughout the season.
Well, after getting the season started in the desert during the Wild West Shootout at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM with the Midwest Modified (X-Mod), the team kicked off their local race season in early April at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI and Blake surprised everyone, probably including himself, by winning the Spring Modified Spectacular event at one of the most legendary race tracks in the country, one which he did not have much experience at in his career. Blake then went on to win another pair of Modified feature races before the end of April, causing the team to shift gears and reevaluate their plan of allowing Blake to get his feet wet in the Mods. They decided to run both the Modified and Midwest Modified as often as possible.

That decision led to Blake racing to 40 feature wins on the season and collecting both the WISSOTA Modified National Championship and Rookie of the Year title for his efforts. Along the way, Blake raced to 25 Modified wins, including both nights of the Chicken Shack Nationals at the Bemidji Speedway, both nights of the Piston Cup at the Granite City Motor Park, the Dairyland Dash and the Firecracker Special at the Rice Lake Speedway, the Madtown Showdown at the Madison Speedway and his biggest career win, the MTH Fall Classic at the Ogilvie Raceway to prove that he was a contender no matter where he unloaded his #40d.

Along with the 25 Modified victories, Blake ended up in victory lane 15 more times in his Midwest Modified, solidifying his third place in the final WISSOTA Midwest Modified national point standings at season’s end as well. In total, Blake entered 128 feature races, finished the season with 40 victories, and raced inside the top ten in 115 of the 128 events he entered. He also picked up 106 top-five finishes between the two cars in feature action throughout 2025.

Adams, just 16 years old, becomes one of the youngest national champions in WISSOTA’s near 40-year history and also joins a very short list of grandfather-father-son duo’s who have won national titles within WISSOTA, as his grandpa Tim McMann was the 1988 WISSOTA Late Model National Champion and Buzzy won national titles in a Modified in 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2015 and in a Super Stock in 2003 .

Although Blake doesn’t have a long history behind the wheel, he began his career in the Go Kart ranks in 2019 and competed and dominated in Karts from 2019 through 2023, which is also the year he jumped into a Midwest Modified for the first time. As mentioned, he still competes in the Midwest Modified today. He has become a threat to win in his Modified quickly as well.

Blake raced a ton this year and picked up wins at fifteen different tracks across three states and Canada, including Cedar Lake Speedway, Rice Lake Speedway, Granite City Motor Park, Fiesta City Speedway, Bemidji Speedway, Proctor Speedway, Casino Speedway, Emo Speedway, Hibbing Speedway, Greenbush Race Park, Red Cedar Speedway, Grand Rapids Speedway, Miller Central Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway and Madison Speedway. His consistency also earned him a pair of track titles for his efforts, as he won both the Modified and Midwest Modified championships at Rice Lake this season.

Blake is sponsored by emr, Collins Brothers Towing of St. Cloud, Olsen Custom Farms, MB Customs Race Cars, CMD Race Shocks, Adams Automotive Racing Engines, Zabel Bros., One to go Show, Heinrich Excavating, Pro Fence, Dalbeck Logging, Rodney Sanders Racing, Brody Viltz, Swift Springs, Speedwerx Headers and Ace Media.

He is also supported by his family, which consists of his dad Kevin, mom Megan, sister Brooke, grandma and grandpa Adams, grandma and grandpa McMann, Lisa Adams, as well as Rodney and Morgan Sanders as well as his other crew members, Tacoma Randall, John Eastman, Jake Molitor, Cody Carlson, Dusten Holub, Justin Hazelwood, Drew Alton, Steve Alton, Sam Fankhauser and Jamie Fisher.

Blake said ‘it feels absolutely unbelievable to win the WISSOTA National Championship in my rookie season’ when asked to put his rookie campaign into words. He was born into racing, with both grandfathers, Dave Adams and Tim McMann, being ultra-successful racers, and, of course, his dad, Kevin, owning multiple national titles throughout his career as well. Blake knows exactly what it takes to be on top of his game night in and night out and will no doubt be a threat to win many more races and championships throughout what should be a long and very successful career behind the wheel.

Congrats to Blake and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.
