Helget hoists the hardware, capturing WISSOTA Pure Stock Rookie of the Year title

33-year-old Dylan Helget from South Range, Wisconsin, competed in the WISSOTA Pure Stock division for the first full season during the 2025 season and was crowned as the WISSOTA Pure Stock National Rookie of the Year for his on-track efforts, besting the talented group of eighteen other Mod Four rookies for the award. Dylan topped fellow Wisconsin racer driver Dnae Rose by 88 points for the rookie title.

Dylan was a true rookie in 2025, having never raced anything before. Growing up around racing as a spectator over the years, and having a hand in some Enduro racing for a year or two during his younger years, Dylan served on the pit crew for fellow Pure Stock racer Jason Simonson during the 2024 season, which fueled his passion for the sport even more, so when his wife convinced him to get a car of his own, he jumped at the chance and the rest is rookie history.

He came into the season wanting to gain seat time and not ‘screw up too bad’, but he went out of the season with a Rookie of the Year title, a racing family, and a ton of experience that he hopes to pass on to the next rookie.

He said, ‘This season has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, and it's an honor to bring home the Rookie of the Year award.’

Dylan’s #24 Pure Stock is sponsored by Mama T’s, All Pro Garage / MN Valley Garage Doors, Korte Motorsports, Larson Designs, Montclair Media and Helget’s Honey. He is also supported by his family, including Heather, Skye, and Axel, as well as his crew member, Alex Larson.

Throughout the 2025 season, Dylan competed at nine different tracks, including Rice Lake, Gondik Law, ABC, Proctor, Grand Rapids, Granite City for the Speedway Motors WISSOTA MPH, Cedar Lake for the Legendary 100, Bemidji for the Paul Bunyan Stampede, and Ogilvie for the Fall Classic. He entered 37 events throughout the season, winning his first two features ever during the Legendary 100 weekend at Cedar Lake, as well as picking up 15 top-five runs and 32 top tens throughout the season for his efforts.
Other than his pair of wins at Cedar Lake, he picked out getting his first top-three finish in Ashland, racing against mentor Eric Crosby and getting 3rd in Superior, as well as racing door to door with several close friends Zene and Jason, throughout the season at different tracks, as some of his biggest memories from the year.

Finally, Dylan wanted to send a special thanks to Eric Crosby. ‘He was a great coach this year for me and all the other rookies. Also, towards the end of the season, Brent Mindock, who won last year’s national title, was a great help with mechanical issues. Thanks also to Jason for the knowledge and to Heather for the push to get a car. Without you two, I wouldn’t have even gotten into racing.’

Congrats to Dylan and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.

Promoters who join the organization become, in essence, part owners of the racing organization and are expected to contribute to its overall success. Each November, the WISSOTA annual meeting is held; the member promoters gather annually in this forum to discuss the future of the organization. Member promoters are given the opportunity to vote on all organizational policies and procedures as well as rules for competition in the various racing divisions. WISSOTA’s member promoters and racing associations have spent approximately 30 years of hard work at the annual meetings crafting unique rules for each of the divisions, which are known as WISSOTA Late Models, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Mod Fours, WISSOTA Pure Stocks and WISSOTA Hornets.
