Puffe powers to first career WISSOTA Pure Stock National Championship

After Laporte, Minnesota’s Dustin Puffe lost the 2024 WISSOTA Pure Stock National Championship on the final night of the season at the Fall Classic to Brent Mindock by just two points, he was laser-focused on going after the title in 2025 and not letting anyone or anything stand in his way of earning his first WISSOTA national title at season’s end. Well, when the 2025 season was officially wrapped up, Puffe was standing tall at the top of the point standings, winning the national title for his season-long efforts on the track.

Dustin started the season hot, winning his first three starts of 2025 and continued to race well throughout the summer, ultimately securing a total of 16 feature wins in the 34 events he competed in, winning nearly 50% of the nights he unloaded. At season’s end, he topped his nearest rival, Jake Smith, by 9 points. Also, he earned the Minnesota State Championship and a pair of track championships at Greenbush and Bemidji for his work in the Gopher State as well.

Dustin’s racing career has consisted of him racing off and on for over twenty years. He started racing in 2002 and has competed in Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, and Super Stocks on and off throughout the years. However, he has settled into a successful career in Pure Stocks over the past few seasons, accumulating 32 wins in the class over the last five seasons.

Dustin stayed local throughout the season, racing at four different tracks across WISSOTA country, including Grand Rapids, Greenbush, Bemidji, and Hibbing. He was able to pick up wins at all four tracks he competed at throughout the season. Along with his 16 victories, he only finished outside the top ten on two occasions all summer long, securing 32 top ten finishes. Even more impressive, he picked up 31 top-five finishes in the 34 events he entered.
Of those 16 wins, Dustin remembers winning the $ 1,000-to-win Pure Stock special at the Grand Rapids Speedway as the most memorable, due to the payday, but also because he got sent to the tail of the field while leading and drove back to the front to win it still! Plus, winning the only appearance for the Pure Stocks at Hibbing was special as well.

Dustin is sponsored by Bulldog Building of South Dakota, Risland Contracting LLC., Andy Williams Realty Group, Jim Hirt Trucking, Pepsi NEI Bottling, Auto Value Parts Stores, Traction Stands, Fuhrman Designs and King of the Road Trailers. He is also supported by his family, which consists of his wife Trish, daughter Dezerai, dad and Karen, mom and Kelley as well as his other crew members, Al and Tammi Sadek, Josh Beaulieu, Becca Kahle and Derek Weleski.

Dustin wanted to thank his sponsors, family, friends, fans. He said ‘winning the 2025 National Championship still hasn’t really sunk in. It’s the goal we set out to accomplish last year and fell just short, so getting there this year is a dream come true and I am very thankful.’

Congrats to Dustin and his team!

The WISSOTA Promoters Association exists to benefit its member tracks to enhance safe, profitable and successful dirt track racing, through unified, cost-effective rules, policies and procedures enacted within a democratic environment.

The WISSOTA Promoters Association was founded in 1981 by eight track promoters in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an intent to offer uniform rules for the promoters and drivers involved in the Late Model division. Soon, the group decided to do the same for the growing Modified division.

In 1984 a voluntary steering committee was formed to oversee the business aspects that developed and to guide the future of WISSOTA’s racing divisions. That steering committee evolved into a board of directors, and the non-profit racing organization became incorporated in 1986.
